PARENTS spearheading a move to create a youth centre in Gunnislake say they have been amazed by the response to the idea from young people and adults alike. Krys Kitt said progress with the project had been ?astonishing? ? and now a public meeting will be held tonight (Thursday) in Gunnislake Public Hall to take the scheme forward. Krys said: ?Already, over the past two weeks there has been an overwhelming response, with offers of help to ensure that the project will come to fruition and be a great success for the village as a whole. ?It is truly overwhelming just how enthusiastic the kids are about the project and some of them are making the effort to publicise the public meeting themselves.? Krys said everyone, adult or youngster, is very welcome to come along to the meeting to discuss the project and put their ideas forward. Offers of volunteer help will be gratefully received. And Krys said those involved in the youth centre project were very grateful to Calstock Development Trust and in particular, Jane Uglow of Oasis, for their ?wholehearted support? and use of the facilities at Oasis. The meeting will take place at 7pm ? all welcome. l As part of the Environmental Awareness Day in Gunnislake on Saturday October 13, the project has been offered the profits from sales of refreshments in the public hall alongside the Recycled Fashion Show. A cake stall is being organised ? all donations will be gratefully received.
