ENVIRONMENTALISTS are to hold a rally on Dartmoor this weekend, in an attempt to protect an area of common land from china clay quarrying.
The rally at Crownhill Down has been organised by Dartmoor Preservation Association, and will be joined by individuals and organisations with an interest in the moor.
Devon Ramblers will also be joining the rally. Area vice chairman John Howell said: 'Crownhill Down is important for its wildlife, archaeology, landscape value and recreation purposes.
This special area should not be lost to china clay mining.'
