THE first PACT (Police and Communities Together) meeting for the Calstock Parish will be held on April 13 at the Tamar Valley Centre at Drakewalls, and parishioners are being encouraged to go along.

Any issues of concern in the community can be raised at the meeting, which will also be attended by representatives of Cornwall Council, Calstock Parish Council and other agencies.

Several PACT meetings have been held in Callington where issues such as speeding, anti-social behaviour and facilities for young people have been addressed.

The aim is to set up a PACT panel, made up of members of the community, which uses a multi-agency approach to tackle problems.

The meeting at the Tamar Valley Centre begins at 7pm.

l Neighbourhood beat manager for Calstock and Gunnislake Joy Stoppard is holding a police surgery at Calstock Village Hall from 10am to 11am today (Thursday) and in Gunnislake Car Park from 3.30pm to 4.30pm for anyone in the parish to attend.
