THE future of Okehampton?s Christian bookshop, Rainbow, has been assured after supporters rallied round following an article in the Okehampton Times.
The bookshop in Fore Street was the brainchild of owner Angela Garnham and celebrated its second birthday in April.
However, the business was struggling to survive financially and a group called Friends of Rainbow Christian Bookshop was formed to try and rescue the enterprise.
Now, just a few months later, it appears the shop has turned a financial corner.
Angela said: ?The vision has been met. It has been wonderful to see so many people in the shop on a regular basis. The shop has become a place of prayer and fellowship during the past two years ? our popularity has grown in all directions, in Devon and further afield.?
Angela said there are now visitors from all over the world calling in to the shop while visiting Okehampton. They ask to be kept in touch with the progress of Rainbow.
She said with the support of Dimestream Data Ltd of North Tawton, the shop now has a website and an online bookshop enabling people to keep in touch more easily.
Angela said a monthly newsletter will be starting.
It will include a diary of events or information and she urged patrons of the shop to add their e-mail address to the guest book.
Anyone who would like to become a friend of the Rainbow Christian Bookshop can call into the shop for a form or pick up one at their nearest church.
The website address for the shop is http://www.rainbowchristianbookshop.co.uk">www.rainbowchristianbookshop.co.uk
