TAVISTOCK Golf Club ladies played for two drawn partner trophies in August. After a long dry spell, heavy rain and high winds challenged the ladies in the Truscott Pittman four ball better ball medal competition on August 26.

Winners were Elaine Cooper and Sue Bailey (nett 75c/b) with runners-up June Kendall and Ginny Samborne (75)

The Foursomes Cup on Friday August 22 was also a drawn partners medal trophy competition. Winners were Leigh Crofton and Ginny Samborne (net 71.5) with runners-up Jean Harden and Wendy Wroe (nett 72.5).

Ladies? Guest Day four ball better ball on Tuesday August 5 was held on a hot summer?s day. The Guest Day Trophy was donated and presented by Rosemary Cook to Belinda McSherry and Laura Eastwood who won first prize (36 points); second Rosemary Cook and Val Raine (34 c/b); third Bev Ruth and Joyce Ruth (34), fourth Maggie Hillman and Di Gray (34); fifth Trudi Luke and June Smalley (31); front 9 Ginny Samborne and Hazel Williamson (15 points c/b); Back 9 Janet Walls and Sally Jones (19).

The Goddard Smith Medal Trophy on August 12 was won by Barbara Ham (nett 65), second Nicky Gawman (67). The medal results were Div 1: first Nicky Gawman (67); second Kerry Gawman (70); Div 2: first Barbara Ham (66), second June Kendall (69).

The winners of the stableford competition on August 19 were Div 1: first Rosemary Cook; Div 2: first Joan Prout. Div 3: first, Mhairi McCall.

On August 11 the league team at home beat Torrington 4.5/1.5, and drew 3/3 with Libbaton on August 18 also at Tavistock.
