THIS?year’s RAF?Harrowbeer 1940s weekend has proven to be extra special, celebrating the 75th anniversary of the opening of the airfield.
The former World War Two airfield opened on August 15, 1941. To mark the anniversary a special remembrance service was held on Saturday morning.
Organised by the RAF Harrowbeer Interest Group (HIG), attractions this year included the Spitfire starting up every hour, steam engine rides and guided tours around the airfield, vintage agricultural vehicles, cars and motorbikes and model aircraft flying displays.
Visitors were also encouraged to come along in 1940s dress and join in with the re-enactors and living history displays.
