PEOPLE of all ages gathered to pit their wits against ten-year-olds from Tavistock Primary School in the 'Are You Smarter than a Ten-Year-Old' quiz and tapas night, organised by the Tavistock Meadows Makeover group recently.

Competitors were given tough questions, set by the primary school pupils, on a wide variety of subjects at the event held in Taylor's restaurant.

Keri Pierce, of the Meadows Makeover team, said: 'It was such a fun evening and a bonus to raise some funds towards our goal of £12,000 for a zip wire. Thank you to all who attended.'

Mia Alaoui, also of the makeover team, added: 'It was the first event of the year but by no means the last. If we want to see the zip wire in by the summer we have to work really hard as we are halfway now with our fund raising target. We are also looking for some new board members, so if you can spare a few hours each month and are passionate about updating the park, please drop me an email at [email protected]">[email protected]

The makeover team expressed thanks to the children of Tavistock Primary for their hard work in writing the questions and to the teachers who helped organise the questions, Ruth Dreher, Simon Beatty, Lisa Base and Craig Holt.

The group is also grateful to Taylor's Restaurant as well, for supplying delicious half-price tapas and providing two great prizes. Thanks also go to Shot in the Dark who provided the PA and sound system free of charge.

The event raised £80.
