FABRIC from one of the Queen Mother's dresses has been used on a quilt made to celebrate her 100th birthday by the ladies of North Tawton WI.
The quilt, which comes with a letter of authenticity from the Queen Mother, will be the top prize in a raffle at a special coffee morning on August 4, the day of her birthday.
All the ladies of the WI have contributed material towards the quilt which has been designed and embroidered by professional embroiderer Gisela Banbury, who is also a WI member.
She spent 150 hours working on the item which is on display in Jordan's Craft Shop in the town. Raffle tickets cost 50p each.
'It's a fundraising thing as well as a celebration of the Queen Mother's life and the quilt will be a nice heirloom for the future,' said WI president Celia Boughton.
