PREPARATIONS are under way in Peter Tavy for the annual village fayre on Bank Holiday Monday, August 26.

Starting at 2.30pm, in and around the village hall and chapel there will be traditional games and home-made refreshments.

A variety of items will be on offer at 'Granny's Attic', plants and produce on a garden stall, and home-made cakes and jams and preserves. There is also the annual duck race along Colley Brook through the village.

Visitors can also test their skill at 'speed duvet cover putting-on'. In what may well be the world's only duvet-cover putting on championships, there will be time trials for adults, children and doubles teams.

The 'Dartmoor Teddy Bears' Dangerous Sports Association' will be holding its 13th annual meeting, with an opportunity for teddy bears and other cuddly toys to have a go at hang gliding! Don't let your bear miss out – bring him along to have a go, and take home a certificate of teddy bravery!

At 3pm, runners competing in the 'Peter Tavy Plod' race and fun run, a five-mile course over moorland tracks and woodland trails. The afternoon rounds off with a quiz and pasty evening in the hall, starting at 7pm.

The fayre raises funds which are divided equally between Peter Tavy Village Hall, St Peter's Church and the Methodist Chapel.
