THE Queen's Head, Albaston has stepped forward to lead fundraising for the purchase of the Olympic torch to be held by local girl Jessica Tait during her leg of the torch relay on May 19.

An Easter raffle will be held on Sunday, April 8 in the pub to help ensure that Jessica can bring her Olympic torch home with her to Albaston.

Jessica said: 'I was a bit surprised to find out that if I would like to keep my torch it would cost £199.

'I was hoping to treat myself to a new pair of trainers before the event but getting the torch is my main priority.

'My little brother Edward and I delivered leaflets around the village, offering my services to do odd jobs to raise the money — I was so excited to get a phone call from Sue Foxwell offering to help with the Queen's Head Easter raffle, it is overwhelming, thank you so much.'
