DREAMS don?t often come true ? but one West Devon teenager this week had the world at her feet, as she stepped onto the catwalk in the full glare of London Fashion Week.

A year ago Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, from Quither, near Chillaton, was at Tavistock College. Now, having been ?spotted? in the best tradition of teen magazine fairy tales, she is being hailed as the next Kate Moss, having already rubbed shoulders with supermodels like Naomi Campbell during New York Fashion Week.

Rosie was signed up to Profile model agency?s New Faces division, after doing work experience in London last Summer.

Her booker, Laura Manktelow, said: ?She?s a booker?s dream. To get such a wonderful girl on work experience is just so cool. Absolutely as soon as I saw her I thought ?That girl is going to be amazing??.

Rosie continued to study for AS levels at Tavistock College ? but by earlier this year she had appeared Teen Vogue, Vogue Nipon and soon, work flooded in for the likes of household names such as Top Show, Tommy Hilfiger and French Connection.

Laura said: ?People are really loving working with her, she?s such a nice girl, she loves the work so much, they can see that, so they like to pick her. The photographers are always calling us to say she was wonderful, which is a very good thing, that doesn?t happen very often.?

Laura said Rosie will be travelling to fashion weeks in Milan and Paris after London and she had ?very high hopes? for the teenager?s future.

?She just gets on with the job, she understands what people need from her quite instinctively, which is unusual.?

Laura said even though Rosie was comparatively short by catwalk model standards ? she is 5ft 9in tall ? she did not feel her lack of inches would be a problem.

?She?s just different ? when she walks down the catwalk there?s a different vibe, it doesn?t matter at all she?s not 5ft 11. She?s got her own way of doing things and I think it will always work for her.?

Rosie flew in from New York last Thursday morning ?on the red-eye? ? immediately she started work, taking on 40 castings in two days.

Laura said: ?That really is incredible, it?s so much hard work, but she always has her chin up. She is very young, but she?s a very mature 17.

?It?s such a buzz for me to have such a fantastic girl to work on. She?s so easy to book ? I?ve got 100% confidence she will go on to huge things.?

Charles, Rosie?s dad, said he and his wife, Fiona, were ?very proud? of what Rosie has achieved so far.

He said: ?We?ll just have to see what happens next. It?s one of those things that can be very here today, gone tomorrow, but I think she?ll make a go of it.

?She?s quite sensible and she?s being very well looked after, she?s getting lots of good advice ? we?re very pleased for her. She?s been to some amazing places, although I don?t know how much she?s actually seen of them. The last time we saw her was at 4.30 in the morning in Barcelona, when we put her on a plane for Amsterdam ? that was about five or six weeks ago!?

Rosie, speaking from a taxi between castings, said life was ?mad? ? but ?amazing?.

?I?m just so excited and New York was amazing,? she said. ?I was walking down the catwalk with the most famous models ? Naomi Campbell was in a couple of my shows so I felt very star-struck, I just tried and tried, it just felt like it?s only me from Tavistock, I just tried to do my best.

?After London I?m hoping I?ll go to Milan and then maybe Paris ? it?s like pretty mad at the moment, but I just love it.?

Rosie said she tried to take everything in her stride, stay level-headed and work hard.

?Being away from home is the most difficult thing and I miss my mum?s food,? she said. ?The travelling is hard, going from one time zone to another all the time and I suppose being in an adult environment. I am only 17 and I have to make sure I?m with people my own age sometimes. But definitely, the worst bit is being away from home.?

Rosie said she was determined to ?make it all the way to the top.?

?You never think it?s going to happen to you, I thought there was no point even thinking about it? now I?m actually doing it, it?s quite bizarre,? said Rosie, who said she could never have achieved so much without the support of Tavistock friends, Rachael, Maddey, Sian and Luke ? and her parents.

?Without these guys I would be nowhere ? I am just very, very lucky.?
