THE annual Lewdown flower and produce show was held on Saturday August 23. The show was opened by president Jim Nash, who welcomed those present and thanked all exhibitors for bringing such good quality exhibits. Jim then thanked those who had worked hard to put the show on.
Roy Stacey, chairman of the hall committee, said the exhibits were of as high a standard as he had seen at other shows this year. Prizes were presented by Andy Nash, Roy Stacey, Jim Nash and Bryan Wonnacott.
The judges? comments on the show was that it had been a difficult year, with the weather being so changeable earlier on, and then the long hot spell. This resulted in the need for a lot of watering to keep things growing. Everyone could be proud of the exhibits.
The floral displays, dahlias and sweet peas were good, vegetables of a high quality and cookery excellent. The handicrafts section of tapestry and quilting produced some stunning examples of workmanship.
