Ardent League U16s Elm Utd 4 Tavistock Town 4 THIS match was a credit to top league football ? quality football with a quality referee. A well taken corner was met by an Elm striker to put Elm in the lead. Derbyshire at left back took the ball up the wing and struck in a high ball which floated in the top of the net. Elm replied again after another corner but a great ball from Pratt saw Doyle tap home. The second half saw the back four of Derbyshire, Kelly, Taylor and Hammond busy. Stand-in keeper Peck pulled off some terrific one-on-one saves, but Elm found an opening with a short range header. Elm strengthened their lead with a well struck goal but with ten minutes remaining Tavistock outplayed them and when Court was upended in the box McCall smashed home the penalty kick. In the dying minutes a free kick was beautifully struck into the top corner of the net by McCall. Tavistock went for the winner but ran out of time. Player of the match: Tom Hammond. McCall?s free kick was headed out but the defence soaked up early pressure and looked dangerous on the break. Another free kick by McCall saw the keeper unable to hold onto it, but Tavistock were not quick enough to follow in. Court then had a shot but it went over the bar. In the second half Predators had two good chances but shots went wide. Hammond crossed a difficult high ball in but the keeper could not hold on to it. Bray just put his shot over. Court made a great run and passed to Pratt but the defence cleared. Predators broke through again and Webber made a cracking save, but the rebound was smashed home.
