PUPILS at Tavistock Community Primary School wore a new 'uniform' last Friday — they came to school in their pyjamas!
The pupils opted for a comfy day with their favourites PJs, dressing gowns and slippers. The event, organised by the school council, was to raise money to build a new school in Ghana. They have been helping a former pupil Neville Maggs in his aim to raise £70,000 towards the cause.
Neville's Preparatory School is in the district of Asuoyeboah, Kumasi, Ghana, and is being built to replace a poorly maintained building, which often suffered from flooding. The pupils at Tavistock Primary were shocked by the poor learning environment and facilities there and were keen to help out.
Neville has raised more than £35,000 in a variety of campaigns; from giving talks, taking part in the 'Tough Guy' challenge and running marathons. At the age of 70, he has been selected to carry the Olympic torch through his now home town of Leicester.
