PUPILS at Delaware Primary school took part in a number of activities to experience what it is like for people with visual and hearing impairments during an awareness day at the school last week.

During the day, the school received a visit from the Deaf Interpretation Bus, where children in key stage one took part in interactive activities and learned about adaptations used for people with a hearing impairment.

The school also had a visit from Guide Dogs for the Blind. Key stage two pupils learned about the role of the guide dog, how it feels to have a visual impairment and learned how to write their names in braille

A total of £140 was raised by a mufti day, which will go towards sponsoring a guide dog puppy and the rest to the Deaf Interpretation Bus.
