YEAR 6 children from North Tawton Community Primary School learned all about forensic techniques at a club held during their lunch time.

Crime Club, which was run by parent, Mrs Juliet Matthews, was used as an original and inspiring approach to science for children.

Last week the pupils were visited by two fingerprint experts from Exeter Police Station and two uniformed police officers from Okehampton Police Station, who explained the importance of fingerprints in solving crime.

They were shown how to find fingerprints on objects and how to lift them from the scene of crime to be examined later.

The pupils enjoyed trying to find and collect fingerprints on objects in the classroom and also had their fingerprints taken as a souvenir of the visit.
