SPORTING champion Denise Austin, who has represented Great Britain at volleyball at international level, met children at Spreyton Primary School recently to spread the message of the importance of being fit and healthy. It was a chance for Denise to tell children more about her sport, answer questions and encourage the youngsters to get more involved in sporting activities. The visit was arranged as part of the prize for ten-year-old pupil Vicki Hawkins. Vicki had won the prestigious regional first prize in a Food for Action competition in January. The nationwide competition aimed to promote the importance of a healthy diet and active lifestyle for young people. Vicki also received £100 worth of sports vouchers as well as the school visit from Denise.
