LIFTON Primary School is one of the first in West Devon to receive the healthy school award from the Government.

Staff are delighted that the school has been recognised for the work it has carried out to ensure the physical and emotional health and well being of the pupils. Children have been encouraged to bring healthy snacks for break, drink water during lessons and take part in healthy eating workshops. Exercise equipment is used at playtime, pupils learn yoga techniques and teachers take part in yoga after school.

Other healthy happenings include sponsored walks, Jump Rope for Heart (in aid of the Heart Foundation) and a school lunch survey.

The school believes that pupils can only reach their potential when they are healthy, happy and at ease with all areas of their lives. A healthy school officer who visited the school was very impressed by the pupils' enthusiasm and keenness to lead a healthier lifestyle.
