THE popular Ring O? Bells pub in Chagford has changed hands.
The free house has been purchased by Gordon Adams and Sharon Wegener who are moving from the home counties.
The pub has been run by Mrs Judith Pool for the last 16 years.
The Exeter Archives reveal that there has been an inn on the site of The Ring O? Bells since well before the 16th century.
In the past the pub was used as a holding prison for miscreants on route to the Okehampton Assizes.
They were kept over-night having been marched on foot over the moor.
Today it is full of olde worlde charm and character with lots of wood panelling, low ceilings and open fireplaces.
The new owners of the Ring O? Bells ? which has been sold by the Plymouth office of hotel, leisure and licensed property specialists Robert Barry and Co ? are looking forward to running it along similar lines to those its regular customers are familiar with.
