SHOPPERS at this weekend's farmers' market in Okehampton will have the chance to buy farm produce from Palestine, thanks to a special stall.

Medjoul dates, olives, caramelised almonds and olive oil will be available on the stall run by Just Living, a Christian charitable group based in Okehampton.

The produce is sold on the stall at marginally above wholesale prices to keep the produce affordable, while providing a fair price for the Palestinian farmers growing the produce.

The produce has been sold on the stall for several months, with great success.

The group's leader, the Rev David Muir, said: 'The reception from Okehampton people has been very heartening. People come back month after month asking for particular things they have tried and enjoyed.

'Our aim is to ease the lot of Palestinian farmers, while also campaigning for a just peace for the country – which everyone who lives there really needs.'

The farmers' market takes place at St James' Chapel on Saturday, February 16.
