MID Devon Pony Club tetrathletes made their first ever visit to the Cotley Pony Club tetrathlon at Chard and came home with prizes all round.
Unusually, all four phases were held on the same day, but apart from an early start, this did not seem to cause any problems and it was an enjoyable outing.
Antony Geering was the sole Mid Devon representative in the eight and under class and did brilliantly to come home in second place in a class of 19, with PBs for his swim and run.
Next up were the mini girls in the ten and under class. There were 33 competitors in this and for the second competition running they had a clean sweep, coming first, second and third.
This time it was Charlotte Rowe who won, with her sister Rebecca second and Scarlet Geering third. Scarlet had the best shoot in the class. All three girls had PB runs and Charlotte and Scarlet had PB swims.
The team won the competition by a huge margin.
The club's final competitor was Ashleigh Ware in the novice junior class who had a good day to come third overall.
It was most encouraging that all five Mid Devon members rode clear rounds on the cross country course - they now look forward to the area finals in September.
