DARTMOOR Prison?s visitor centre is in desperate need for volunteers to join its charity, Prison Advice and Care Trust. PACT is a charity that works with families and prisoners in the South West ? all of the projects carried out rely on volunteers. Currently, the visitor centre and play project at Dartmoor is struggling with very few volunteers. If anyone can help, they are asked to contact them. The project helps to relieve the stress of visiting by children and allows them to have contact, but also gives the adults time to talk. Volunteers at the visitor centre welcome visitors and book them in, explain the procedures and give information about the prison. They also man the play area and enjoy arts and games with the children. If anyone would like to help contact Vics Brown via e-mail on [email protected]">[email protected] l Prison Advice and Care Trust manager, Sue Caley, has just received a ?Devon and Cornwall Criminal Justice Award? for the work she has done through PACT.
