A MAN has admitted damage to a property and threatening a neighbour after a ten-hour siege in Princetown on Monday.
Benjamin Frost, aged 27, has appeared at Plymouth Magistrates Court charged with damaging a window, door and roof of a Devon and Cornwall Housing property in Oakery Crescent, Princetown.
He was accused of causing £4,000 worth of damage to the property and using threatening behaviour to a neighbour who had complained about his music through the night.
Prosecutor Chris Brittlestone told the court that Benjamin Frost had become involved in an argument and barricaded himself inside his home. He had made threats to a female neighbour and when police were called he armed himself with a knife and gas canister.
Mr Brittlestone said Mr Frost told police ’he was going to blow himself up’ before he ’tried to make an exit in a rather dramatic fashion and broke through the roof.’
In mitigation Graham Kinchin said his client suffered depression and anxiety and he called for a pre-sentence report. He said Mr Frost was ’someone who clearly has mental health difficulties.’
The sentencing was adjourned until February 3 and Benjamin Frost was remanded in custody.
