OKEHAMPTON’s carnival committee has chosen their prince and princess for the year.
Harvey Baker and Isla Barton will start their royal journey at Okehampton Carnival on Saturday, October 19.
As this also happens to be Isla’s birthday, it promises to be an extra special day for her.
Harvey and Isla are very good friends and can often be found playing sport, dressing up and generally having fun.
A lot of people who know Isla will be surprised to see her in a princess dress, as she is usually to be found in shorts and football boots.
Being chosen to be prince and princess is only the start of it.
Isla and Harvey’s parents are now in the process of designing and decorating the float and are busy preparing outfits for them both.
Okehampton Carnival is the first one the pair will attend, but they will go on to be in various other local carnivals.
Isla’s mum Clare said: ‘If you are out and about on carnival day, please give Isla and Harvey a big wave and you will hopefully get big smiles and waves back.
‘If you would like your child to be carnival king or queen, prince or princess next year, make sure you look out for the posters and Facebook posts asking for applicants.’
The carnival prince and princess need to be aged between five and 11 on carnival day, while the Queen – or King – must be over 12.
