Tavistock 11

Sidmouth 20

THIS was a disappointing result for Tavistock at Sandy Park. Although they dominated up front they were unable to convert the pressure into enough points.

Tavistock, playing down the hill in the first half, put Sidmouth under pressure and were able to establish the lead with two penalties kicked by Creddicott. Unfortunately, the early pressure did not yield enough points and this would cost the Moorlanders dear.

Sidmouth also converted one penalty and turned around at 6-3. The score remained until well into the second half when Sidmouth scored a breakaway try.

Tavistock at times lacked continuity in attack and defence. They tried to rally and regain the lead by attacking hard until a Sidmouth player, trying to intercept a pass, knocked the ball on out of site of the referee, had a fortunate bounce and managed to break away to score their second try.

Tavistock rallied once more and replied with a try created by an Evans chip, scored by Lyddon.

Sidmouth could smell victory and were able to score again in the dying minutes.
