WHITCHURCH Wayfarers Cricket Club held its annual prize presentation recently at the Ordulph Arms, Tavistock.

Particular highlights were the senior 2nd X1 finishing champions of their league and gaining promotion to Devon 2nd X1 C division.

The Tamar Evening league side were also promoted as champions and will play 1st division next season. The U15 colts made the pace in their age group of the Palladium youth league for most of the season, just dropping away towards the end but finishing a creditable 3rd. Nevertheless they were runners up in their knockout cup competition.

Many thanks went to Jonathan Mears, representing the Devon Cricket Board and the West Devon Cricket Coaches Association, for attending and presenting the awards.

The main colts? awards went to U15 Sean Daymond who received the Pedrick cup for best colt and U11 Jonathan Elliott who received the Beaver cup for most improved colt.

For the ladies Leslie Smith and Ang Hunt were best bat and best bowler respectively with Laura Armstrong and Candy Capeling sharing the award for most improved player. For the senior 1st XI Ian Gray and Steve Lavis were best batsman and bowler with Jez Stokes taking players player award. For the senior 2nd XI Joel Heatley and Ashley Woodrow were best batsman and bowler and Tom Ingram was player?s player. A special award was made to Trevor Williams who is standing down as U11 manager. Trevor has been involved with the colts for the best part of 20 years and in that time has run sides at most age levels and for 12 years was colts? secretary.
