RESIDENTS of Calstock affected by the collapse of the road at Lower Kelly were thanked last week for 'banding together' during a difficult time.
At a meeting of the full Calstock Parish Council last week, Cornwall councillor for Calstock Dorothy Kirk expressed her thanks to the residents and to Cornwall Council.
She said: 'I must say a big thanks to the residents who have banded together, cared for each other and identified problems and risks. Thanks also must go to the officers at Cornwall Council for being so prompt.'
The meeting was attended by many members of the public and Esther Richards and Mark James from Cornwall Council's localism team, who had had a meeting with residents who wished to raise their concerns prior to the council meeting.
Mr James asked councillors and members to email them with any concerns or questions to keep them up to date on issues.
He said: 'Structural surveys are ongoing and we are dealing with recycling and waste matters. We would like people to email us with questions or concerns.
'We know there may be issues around heating supplies and septic tanks — let us know if people are running low. The earlier we know the better, especially if there are vulnerable people who can't necessarily help themselves.'
Ms Richards added: 'When issues come forward we will address them. We need to keep the dialogue going between us. Be assured the council does consider this a priority — the more you feed to us the more we can help.'
Mr James and Ms Richards said they would be running weekly drop-in sessions in Calstock for affected residents to attend.
