THE mayor of Tavistock has congratulated town council staff on their splendid efforts during Goose Fair week.

Council works superintendent Wayne Southall told last week's meeting of the town's properties committee that all the stall spaces had been let and local businesses had been encouraged to take part in the fair.

'We also tried to introduce a few more traditional stalls and where we had a few drop out, we tried to encourage local traders,' he said.

Mayor Cllr Anne Johnson said: 'I would like to thank Wayne and all the staff — they all worked incredibly hard to make the fair a great success.'
