Tavistock 5 Plymouth Rangers 0 TAVISTOCK entertained run-away league leaders Plymouth Rangers in the quarter final of the Challenge Bowl and showed them no respect, as they tore into them from the first whistle. Tavistock passed the ball with great urgency, not allowing their visitors to get in the game. After only ten minutes Hamilton?s cross on the left was met by Ken Blatchford eight yards out. Blatchford smashed a right-footed volley into the top corner. Within five minutes it was two. Again, some great interlinking football involving Yendall, Gibson and Brockington, enabled Mat Martin to finish from close range. With only 20 minutes gone the visitors made two substitutions, but to no avail, as Tavistock quickly made it three. Top goal scorer Blatchford was on hand again to fire low into the bottom corner. On a rare breakaway Williams was called upon to make a great save. Up the other end Martin?s through ball found Yendall and with the keeper in no man?s land Yendall calmly chipped the keeper from 20 yards. With Tavistock now up and cruising the game, just before the break Martin grabbed his second with a header from ten yards. The second half was more of a contest with both sides creating chances. With Williams making two fine saves the Tavistock defence stayed solid. Yendall, Blatchford and Hoskin all went close for the home side, but a well deserved win for Tavistock.. This week Tavistock are at home to Plymouth Civil Service, kick-off 2.15pm.
