ETERNAL Light is one of Rambert Dance Company's most ambitious collaborations in recent years, a powerfully beautiful and life-affirming celebration set to an elegiac and evocative score.
Eternal Light is coming to the Theatre Royal Plymouth from Wednesday November 26 until Saturday November 29, where it will be sung live by Plymouth Philharmonic Choir and accompanied by Rambert's Associate Orchestra, London Musici.
Eternal Light is the major new work by artistic director, Mark Baldwin, and is set to a gorgeous and uplifting new score by composer Howard Goodall.
The production includes a sumptuous set and costume designs from the art director of Selfridges, Michael Howells, and striking headdresses from iconic fashion milliner, Stephen Jones.
As well as this new collaboration, Rambert Dance Company will also be presenting two other pieces, Carnival of the Animals and Infinity.
Carnival of the Animals, arguably Siobhan Davies' most popular and endearing work, is re-invigorated for the 21st century and set to Saint-Saëns' beautiful and melodic music of the same name.
Infinity explores the dramatic and often brutal passage towards life's inevitable end. Intuitive and emotional, the work pits the dancers against each other in an avalanche of striking physical imagery, and is set to an eclectic and other-worldly new musical score.
Since joining Rambert as its Artistic Director in 2002, Mark Baldwin's creative vision through music, dance and design, 'Rambert's creative triangle', has never been more prevalent than with the creation of Eternal Light.
Merging several different artforms, Baldwin collaborates with some of the finest, award-winning talent that Britain has to offer.
