Large numbers of former members of the church and Sunday school attended the special event. Two short services were held, one in the morning conducted by the Superintendent minister of the Callington and Gunnislake Circuit, Rev Howard Curnow, and the other in the afternoon conducted by former Sunday school scholar and member of the church, Rev Valerie Honey, who is now stationed at Horrabridge. The organist at both services was Wesley Wilton.
Pictures of bygone days, including Sunday school outings and weddings, were displayed in the schoolroom, inspiring many reminiscences of former times for those present.
The event was held before the existing church closes its doors in the autumn, a new building being under construction at Albaston Hill. Tours of the building site were arranged and a model and plans of the new church were on display.
More than 200 invitations had been sent out, resulting in donations from as far afield as New Zealand and Spain, and the event raised over £1,200 for the building fund of the new Tamar Valley Methodist Church.
