A BAKING enthusiast from Exbourne is using her talents to bring a quirky new venture to the village.
Each Sunday, Angie Milsom-Smith will welcome people to Angie's Pop-Up Tea Room in Exbourne Village Hall to enjoy quality scones, real Devon clotted cream, home-made cakes and lashings of tea.
'Tourists, villagers, people out for a Sunday afternoon drive, in fact everyone, is invited. I want them all to enjoy a typical English experience in a classic village atmosphere,' said Angie.
One of the volunteers at the village's Burrow community shop, Angie contributes many of the cakes, pasties and other treats on sale there during the week.
A true baking enthusiast, she regularly enters and wins local show competitions, and has always wanted to run a tea room.
She said: 'This project will give me some experience of what's involved. Who knows? Perhaps I will achieve my ambition as a result.'
Jane Stewart, president of Exbourne, Jacobstowe and Sampford Courtenay WI, will lend Angie a hand at the Pop-Up Tea Room.
She said: 'Angie's reputation is high and I can assure people that her baking is second to none.'
The first pop-up session is this weekend, on Sunday, June 9 and runs to Sunday, August 25 from 2pm to 5pm each day in the village hall.
