A WEST Devon lifeguard is planning to hike up the tallest mountain in the UK to raise money for the Prostate Cancer Charity.

Tavistock's Meadowlands Leisure Pool lifeguard Andrew Ellis, 24, will hike up 1,344-metre Scottish mountain Ben Nevis between May 13 and 15. He hopes to raise as much money as possible for his hike, all of which will go to the charity.

Andrew is hoping members of Meadowlands and the local community will sponsor his hike in order to help him raise funds.

He said: 'I'm so grateful to all of the people that have already donated and urge our visitors this month to spare any change they can. Together we can help to raise awareness, fund research and improve the services and care that are available to sufferers. I have been putting plenty of training in, so hopefully I can get to the top and fly the flag for the Prostate Cancer Charity.'

Anyone who would like to support Andrew can leave donations at reception.
