TWO fire engines from Princetown and Yelverton went to the rescue of a pony trapped on an island in the middle of a river near Princetown on Sunday evening. The small pony was carried to safety across the River Cowsic and was uninjured. Firecrews from Okehampton and Launceston were called to an accident on the eastbound carriageway of the A30 between Lifton and Stowford Cross last Friday at 8.30pm.
