THE Silverton Pony Club held their annual Tetrathlon last weekend and almost 200 competitors turned up for two days of competition at the Dawlish Leisure Centre and Bicton X-C course. Mid Devon PC?s tetrathletes were again in fine form, with the star turn coming from Will Leech who finished the Area 15/16 Junior Championship in 2nd place, beaten by his nemesis, Adam Sandercock from the Lamerton. Undaunted by a disappointing shoot, Will maintained his fine recent running form, finishing in a PB time that was the best in his class. On Sunday, he and Top Star came up with another great clear round, a fine end to the season that has seen them go clear in their last five competitions. In the Junior Girls Area class, the Mid Devon team of Jessica Mortimore, Rosa Malseed and Lottie Trerise finished in third place, behind the North Cornwall and the Tetcott and South Tetcott teams. The girls all shot well and put in some good times in the run and the swim; Rosa finished sixth, with a great score of over 4000 points. In the Novice Mini class, Kim Stanton had a wonderful day on the Saturday with personal bests in the shoot and the run, followed by the best swim in her class. On Sunday, she rode a measured clear round over Bicton?s lovely novice course to finish the competition in second place, just ten points behind Eggesford?s Toby Thurgood, with Harry McKelvey, also of the Eggesford, finishing third. Charlotte Rowe was Mid Devon?s only entry in the Senior girls class, and a PB shoot followed by a good run and swim saw her in a strong position at the start of the ride. She and Shanto produced another stylish round to finish in third place.
