CHILDREN and their childminders from Okehampton enjoyed a day out at a pony centre last month to celebrate 21 years of the Devon Child Minding Association. Nine events were held across Plymouth, Devon and Torbay to celebrate the birthday in style. Despite the bad weather, 12 childminders, one parent and 42 children came out to play at the Original Pony Centre in Moretonhampstead. They helped feed the animals, went in the paddocks with the ponies, had pony rides and played in the play areas. Everyone there enjoyed a picnic and snacks from the café before the heavens opened and thunder struck. Paula Honeychurch-Hann, DCMA spokesperson, said: ?It was great to see so many adults and children enjoying this fantastic local resource. ?Watching the faces of the children light up as they fed armfuls of hay to the ponies, and seeing them in the paddocks with the ponies and donkeys, you could tell how much they were enjoying the hands-on experience of our local countryside.? DCMA provides support and training in childminding. To find out more visit http://www.devonca.org">www.devonca.org
