CORNWALL Council chairman Ann Kerridge and council leader John Pollard were unanimously re-elected at a recent meeting of the full Council.
Chairman Ann Kerridge, who was nominated by Bob Egerton and seconded by John Keeling, thanked members for their support and said it was a great privilege to serve the council for a second year.
Vice Chairman Mary May was also re-elected unanimously by the council.
Nominating John Pollard as the leader of the council for the fourth year, Adam Paynter said that he had done a fantastic job and had worked hard for the council and for the whole of Cornwall.
He was seconded by Andrew Mitchell who said Mr Pollard had always had Cornwall at the heart of everything he had done and was truly the best person for the job.
Thanking members for their support, Mr Pollard said he was honoured to serve the whole of Cornwall and would continue to strive to make Cornwall prosperous, resilient and sustainable and the best place in the world to live.
Mr Pollard also praised the chief executive and senior officers for their hard work, commitment and professionalism and highlighted the positive working relationship between members and officers at the authority.
He also thanked deputy leader Adam Paynter and members of the cabinet for their support and confirmed they would all be continuing with their current portfolios for the next 12 months.
‘This is a very talented Cabinet,’ he said. ‘They all work very hard, they all have a firm grasp on their responsibilities, they are all prepared to go the extra mile and they are all dedicated to building a better Cornwall.’
