AMONG those having his say at a youth conference at Nottingham University last week was West Devon representative Daniel Smith.

Daniel, who also represented North Devon and Torridge, was among four UK Youth Parliament members from the county, took part in a debate on learning how to make a difference.

The annual sitting saw 250 young people who sat and debated to stand up and fight for their rights.

Daniel Smith, 16, said: 'I had a great time at the annual sitting and found the speech given by Rt Hon John Bercow MP engaging and inspiring as I could really tell that he believes in UKYP.

'The workshops that I took part in taught me how to use all different types of social media within my campaigns and how to engage with hard work to reach groups of young people.

'Overall, I have learnt a lot of new skills that I can now take with me back to Devon to help get the voice of young people in my area heard.'
