POLICE were called to Plymouth Road, Tavistock, shortly after midnight on Friday, April 3 after three young women were physically attacked by a drunken man.

After the attack, the man then collapsed at the roadside in a stupor. Police arrived and a 36-year-old man was identified by the people he had assaulted and was arrested.

Police wish to thank members of the public who behaved responsibly at the scene of the incident.

Sgt Dave Anning said: 'It would have been very easy for people who saw the man attack the young women to have attacked him in turn, especially when he collapsed.'
