POLICE in Callington are appealing for help to catch vandals who have caused more than £500 worth of damage to property in Callington over the past month.
The weekend of August 13 to 15 was the worst hit with Callington Youth Club in Liskeard Road seeing seven of its windows smashed in an incident on the Friday night.
The same evening also saw £75 worth of damage done to a vehicle parked at the Tamar Valley MOT Centre, and an aluminium Bed and Breakfast sign costing £140 stolen from The Old Manse guest house.
Police are appealing for residents to check their gardens for the sign, which they believe may have been stolen as a drunken prank.
Overnight on Monday August 16 a number of items of audio equipment were stolen from a car parked in Callington?s Well Street and police community support officer Mark Stribley would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the crime.
He can be contacted on 08452 777444, quoting crime reference BN/04/373.
Police are also appealing for further information about a brawl in Fore Street, Callington, on July 24 which culminated in three assaults and has so far resulted in seven arrests.
The incident saw a window in Fore Street smashed and resulted in a man being taken to Derriford Hospital where he required 13 stitches for a facial injury.
Two related incidents a fortnight later saw an attempted break-in at a Turkish-owned takeaway and staff and a customer at the takeaway subjected to threatening behaviour and abuse.
At 11pm on August 12 a man described as white, in his early twenties with a slim build and dark, spiky hair entered Castle Chicken on Fore Street and threatened staff and a customer.
The incident followed another at about 11.30pm the day before when two men tried to get into the shop via scaffolding on an adjoining property.
Sgt John Frazer said: ?We are hoping to make more arrests in connection with these incidents and are taking a firm but fair line on offenders.
?We are now looking for new legislation to apply for antisocial behaviour disorders to be served, in addition to the prosecution procedures which we are confident will come to court.?
