POLICE are appealing for information after a car driver was involved in a potentially fatal hit and run incident in Sticklepath last weekend. At around 10am on Saturday, a bronze BMW 318i crashed into five parked vehicles ? none of the vehicles were occupied and no-one was injured. The vehicle was believed to have been travelling at an excessive speed when the driver lost control on a bend near the entrance of Bowden Hosta Nursery and crashed into the five vehicles, causing extensive damage to four of them. The driver of the BMW then reversed and sped off in the direction of Whiddon Down. The vehicle was later found in Exeter, has been recovered by police and is currently being examined by scenes of crime officers. The police would like to speak to anyone who saw this vehicle either prior to the accident, at the accident or after the accident on that day. A police spokesperson said: ?This was a very serious crash and could have had far greater consequences had there been people in the parked vehicles or pedestrians close by. We need to identify this person.? The investigating officer is PC Jonathan Ludwig of Okehampton Police Station who can be contacted on 08452 777444.
