STEAM engines and a threshing machine were among the main attractions at a vintage tractor working day and ploughing match held at Whiddon Down last Sunday.

The event organised by North and East Dartmoor Vintage Working Society was in aid of Okehampton St John Ambulance appeal.

Mike Bailey of the society said this, the second annual event, had drawn a good crowd, and featured seven steam engines, 20 vintage or classic tractors, many static engines and a shire horse.

The ploughing match featured around 15 hydraulic ploughs and seven trailer ploughs with crawlers.

Mr Bailey said one of the main highlights was a working display by a threshing machine and binder, kindly supplied by Dudley Luxton of Okehampton.

Mr Bailey thanked everyone who supported the event at Gooseford Farm by bringing vintage machinery or simply coming along to watch.

He said the society's next planned event was going to be a road run, in December, starting out from Okehampton
