A PLOUGH service held by Farm Crisis Network Devon at Hatherleigh Church was well supported by a large congregation. The service was conducted by two local clergymen, the Rev Stuart Wilson, and the Rev John Peak. Members of Okehampton YFC carried the plough. The chairman of Okehampton NFU read a lesson, and local farming families took part in the service. Dr John Wibberley, an agriculturalist of international acclaim, was the preacher. A collection of more than £400 was taken for the work of Farm Crisis Network among the rural communities of Mid and West Devon. Following the service, held on Sunday, January 8, the congregation was treated to a ?Hatherleigh tea?, which was prepared and served by members of the church. Farm Crisis Network is a charity seeking to support farming families through the many and varied problems faced in rural communities. The work is done by volunteers with farming backgrounds.
