THE first greater Dartmoor producer event being run by Dartmoor Food and Drink Association takes place in Princetown this weekend.

It is being held at the new community village centre, opened by Prince Charles a few weeks ago.

Opening to the public at 10am, the festival will continue until 5pm on both days.

The host will be master chef Peter Gorton from the Horn of Plenty, Gulworthy, along with other chefs from Mill End Hotel, Prince Hall Hotel, Agaric Restaurant, The Fish Deli in Ashburton, and Ashburton Cookery School.

There will be an apple pressing event (bring your own apples and containers), and visitors can taste Dartmoor burgers, buy and try local wine and beer, as well as plenty of other produce, from cheeses to olives.

There will be competitions and prizes to be won, and there will also be hands on cookery courses for children and adults.

Saturday is 350 Climate Action Day and Dartmoor National Park Authority will be there with plenty of information about what can be done by individuals to reduce people's carbon footprint.
