RESIDENTS on the Bere Peninsula will be singing their hearts out as Christmas approaches.
On Sunday morning, December 21, there is a united Gateway Christmas family service at 10.30am at Bere Alston United Church, following a craft day the previous morning. Then in the evening at St Andrew's Church in Bere Ferrers there is a traditional carol service at 6pm, with contributions from St Andrew's Singers and Tutte Voci.
Tutte Voci will hold their own evening of carols and Christmas music and readings, with guest Tyrone Piper on Monday, December 22 at 7.30pm in the United Church. The evening is free and mince pies will be provided — donations are invited for ShelterBox.
On Tuesday evening Bere Ferrers villagers will be singing carols around the village, ending at the Olde Plough. And on Christmas Eve there will be two performances of the Nativity in St Andrew's Church, one at 2.30pm and the other at 4pm. It has become necessary to have two crib services due to the number of people wishing to attend.
At Holy Trinity Church there will be a Watchnight service on Christmas Eve, which is always well attended and leads into Christmas Day, when there will be services at the United Church at 9.30am and at St Andrew's Church at 10.30am.
Last Saturday, a Christmas concert was held in Bere Alston Parish Hall in aid of the bowling club. Organiser Tyrone Piper thanked everyone who helped make it such a successful evening.
