BERE Ferrers quay was crowded with stalls, villagers and visitors for Watersports Day last Saturday.
Around 300 people watched games in the mud of the River Tavy, then others with more water as the tide came in.
Five teams of six took part, with several competing in fancy dress. Among the competitors were local young people who return to the village for the event each year.
Games included a relay race across the mud, skiing on the mud, and rain sticks ? where each team tried to fill a holey tube with water.
The finale of the games was the greasy pole, with members knocking each other into the river with pillows. The winning team was the Scrubs.
A crabbing competition was held off the quayside, with the winner of the best crabber under 7 being Connor Page.
Winner of the over 7s was Reece Thompson, with Ben Hopwood winning the prize for the biggest crab.
A bar and barbecue were manned by villagers, with other stalls, including Bere Ferrers WI, the RNLI, Bere Ferrers Horticultural Society, Bere Ferrers Villagers? Group and some local businesses.
There was also a collection of motorcycles. Entertainment during the evening included local musicians George Nix and Mark Henderson and a firework display, with a pig roast providing the refreshment.
The watersports committee thanked their sponsors, without whom the event could not have taken place due to rising costs.
Next year will be the 25th anniversary of the event.
