OUR daughter started school last week, for the first time. A happy time, full of excitement and new experiences for both her and us, her parents. Unfortunately, on two of four occasions walking to school, she has stepped in dog mess.

Dog ownership is a wonderful thing and our family has, in the past spent many happy hours walking and playing with our dog, but this privilege comes with the responsibility of being a considerate owner. Not only is the leaving of dog faeces hugely unpleasant for the poor soul who steps in it, it is a health hazard. Add to this the proximity of this phenomenon to a primary school and  I'm sure your readers will sympathise with our situation.

I therefore ask all dog owners in the West Devon area to be the best dog owner possible and avoid any further repetition of these events.

All you need to do is put a plastic bag in your pocket before you leave your house. It's your dog, its your responsibility!
