GINSTERS? work experience programme has proved to be top of the class as it has received a Platinum Providers Award from the Department for Education and Skills. The award is given to companies that achieve the DfES?s high standards for work experience programmes and is in recognition of the one week placement scheme Ginsters operates. Nicky Taylor, training and communications manager, said: ?We are delighted to receive this award, which recognises the commitment Ginsters has to supporting and encouraging students from local schools.? Ginsters? work experience programme is designed to provide students with a real insight into the working environment. The programmes begin with an application and interview for positions available within the company, from new product development to IT and technical support. Students that are successful work closely with staff that have been trained to deliver effective work experience programmes, before delivering a final presentation to senior management and teachers at the end of the week. Each programme can accommodate up to 10 students and this year Ginsters will undertake eight separate work experience programmes. Tom Hickie, manager at Cornwall Education Business Partnership, works throughout Cornwall to facilitate enterprise learning through a range of projects linking schools and businesses. He said: ?Ginsters is one of the leading companies in terms of providing work experience placements. ?The Platinum Provider Award is given in recognition of their quality approach and high standards of preparation and support for the students.?
