ACCORDING to the Commission for Rural Communities, 'Settlements with more than 10,000 people are classed as urban', and according to the West Devon Borough Council statistics for 2007 the population of Tavistock was 11,599. It has obviously already grown considerably since these figures were published.
I assume that our town (especially with a population due to expand if Kilbride Community Rail has its way) can now no longer claim to be a rural community.
