THE recently-launched new Devon Air Ambulance helicopter was called to an Okehampton business on Monday morning.

Pete O?Connor suffered a slipped disc in his back while at his business, O?Connor?s Campers on the Exeter Road industrial estate, and had to be flown to Exeter for treatment.

Eyewitnesses said they were amazed how the helicopter managed to land on such a small piece of grass inside the industrial estate.

Pete said he was now back at home recuperating and was beginning to feel better.

He said he was impressed by the helicopter which arrived quickly and conveyed him to hospital in Exeter in just six minutes.
